Liner Notes
Legendary Steel
Guitarist Jimmy Day, my best friend, suggested in the early 90's
that I record a tribute to Ernest Tubb performing ET's songs and
some of ET's favorites.
Owen Bradley, ET's longtime friend and producer,
offered to help. Rufus Thibadeaux, long time friend and fiddle
player extraordinaire, offered help. Still I delayed thinking that
it would be done perhaps by others and I would just offer to help
with such a project.
Now, Jimmy and Owen are gone, Rufus is no longer
able to help musically, and today marks 64 years since ET first
recorded "I'll Get Along Somehow" and "My Blue Eyed Elaine" at the
Rice Hotel in Houston, TX
It's time to do this!
Studio Guests: David Chamberlain, Billy
Robinson, Jeremy Owsley, Skeet Dozier (ET's nephew), Smiley Roberts,
Kittar Moore, Larry Perkins & Marcia Shore McCall, Jay Andrews,
Leeanne Lallone, Candi Carpenter, Ron Elliott TT.
Thanks to Bobby Reed, Dick Clark
Productions, Jeff James.
Special Thanks to Willie Nelson TT for sharing
his vocals and his Legendary, award winning, one of a kind acoustic
guitar playing,
Special Thanks to Johnny Bush for his
encouragement, advice and assistance necessary to do such a project.
